Markets

Very popular in Mallorca and a must for visitors. They are held in open squares, mornings only, all over the island. Here you will find the best fresh fruits and vegetables. Go as early in the morning as possible. Around the main squares also you will find clothes, shoes, knives, pottery, carved wood, souvenirs, etc. Here are the “mercats” (Mallorquin for markets) closest to you:

Food Shopping

Duty Free goods are no longer available within the EC, you can take back any goods, as long as they are for personal use. Please remember that there are strict weight limits (as found on your flight tickets) for your return journey.

Normal hours are Monday – Saturday 9.00 – 13.00 and 16.00 – 20.00 hrs, although in the tourist resorts you may find shops open all day and Sunday mornings, specially the large Supermarkets

SUPERMARKETS

The large supermarkets are usually open all day from 9.00 until 21.00 hrs with the exception of Sundays when they close at 14.00 hrs.

SUMA Santo Domingo Street, 33 (50 metres away from the Cloister of Santo Domingo). Very convenient for clients who reside close to Pollensa town. You will find practically anything you need. They have a reputation for their barbeque meat.

BIP BIP Via Pollentia (Cati on the meat counter makes her own hamburgers and roasts chickens and sometimes has other specialities like courgettes stuffed with cod).

EROSKI Opposite the petrol station in Port of Pollensa large store facilities with underground parking a small one on Carrer Joan XVIII also in Puerto Pollensa. They also have a branch in Pollensa at Via Argentina 15, and between Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa about 200 meters from the Lluc, Soller, Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa round about is another large branch. Easy access and parking facilities. In Alcudia it is opposite the walled town of old Alcudia, on the right-hand side as you turn towards Puerto Alcudia.

HIPER CENTRO Vicente Buades Street, 11 in the Port of Pollensa, off the main road.

MERCADONA In Alcudia on the road from Alcudia to Puerto Alcudia, it is a large supermarket with underground parking, thought to be the cheapest in the area.

There are smaller Supermarkets which you may find open for extended hours, in the centre of the resorts.
